From January 31 to February 4, heads of top transnational corporations and international political leaders will meet at the WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM (WEF) in New York City.

In dedicated and informed opposition, the Second Annual World Social Forum WSF is underway from January 31 to Febrary 5, in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Here, representatives from international human  rights to labor to student organizations will stand in solidarity against corporate-centered globalization. The WSF states:

The alternatives proposed at the World Social Forum stand in opposition to a process of capitalist globalization commanded by the large multinational corporations and by the governments and international institutions at the service of those corporations’ interests….demonstrations are being organized by multiple groups in New York City.
